Covid19 Update Page

17 June 2020

Hi everyone

It does not seem possible that it was 8 weeks since the first Corona virus update.  I hope you are all keeping safe and well and managing to get some workshop time in.

Hopefully you have seen the virus update page on the club website, and the ability to show pictures of your work on the Newsletter page. There are a number of quality pieces already on show, well done to those members.

Our thanks must also go to Mike Sharp for his work in making all these changes work, while also being a contributor.

You will also see a link to Scott Waugh`s project on connecting your shed to the internet, well done Scott.

Those of us who follow things internet based cannot fail to see the very rapid progress in “Live remote demonstrations” There was a first for myself and committee members in May when we held our first committee meeting via Skype from our individual homes. There is no doubt that the use of this media is going to escalate, luckily we have most of the equipment, and the know how to be able to benefit from it. Thanks to the hard work of several members.

No doubt the main question on everyone's mind is, when can we start both club nights and Saturday clubs. Obviously we all want to see meetings resume, but until the restrictions imposed by government i.e. pubs, cinemas, theatres are lifted we feel we cannot for the safety of all of us  resume meetings.

It would be helpful for the committee to receive your feedback.  Further updates will be posted on the website, if you have any questions / ideas please email myself or the secretary.

Stay safe and well.

Message from the Chairman

Hi everyone

We are now in the 3rd week of this thing called a lockdown, I hope you and yours are all keeping safe and well in this strange and troubled time.

As you will appreciate, we now know that the situation is not going to end as soon as anyone hoped or wished. Obviously while we would all like to see club meetings resume, you will appreciate in the interest of all our safety this cannot be.

I know that a number of you are using the time to produce some quality pieces of work, some to catch up on workshop housekeeping. Whatever way you spend your time please be safe.

Further updates will be posted on the website as and when. If you have any questions / suggestions please email myself or the secretary.
